The Pitt women’s basketball program has picked up a late transfer for the 2023-24 season.

Head coach Tory Verdi announced on Thursday the addition of transfer forward Ioanna Chatzileonti, who spent the last three seasons with the Kansas program.

The 6-foot-4 forward will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

“I am very excited to announce the addition of another experienced post player,” said Verdi. “Ioanna will give us more depth in the front court while her knowledge of the game will help us immediately.”

During her time with the Jayhawks program, Chatzileonti averaged 8.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per game, while also shooting 45% from the field. Last season, Chatzileonti appeared in only 11 games because of injury, but during the time, she averaged 7.1 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.

Back in 2021-22, Chatzileonti started 27 of 29 games and averaged a career-high 9.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.

The native of Athens, Greece was a 4-star recruit back in the Class of 2020.

She becomes the fourth transfer to join the Pitt program this offseason joining Bella Perkins, Jala Jordan and Rapuluchi Ayodele.
