It’s time to make things official for Brandin Cummings.

Cummings, a high-school guard who has been committed to Pitt since January, will officially sign his National Letter of Intent with Pitt on Thursday morning at 10 a.m. at Lincoln Park High School.

Cummings is a 6-foot-3 guard who is ranked as the No. 126 player in the nation in the class of 2024. He is the younger brother of former Pitt point guard Nelly Cummings. Cummings committed to Pitt in January over offers from South Carolina, Creighton, Duquesne, and others.

“Coach Capel told me and my brother exactly how he wanted this season to go, and he’s executing that,” Cummings told Pittsburgh Sports Now at the time of his commitment. It’s clear that Pitt basketball is back. This Pitt program is on a mission, and I want to be a part of that, so I felt like this was the right time to join in.”

Pitt also has a forward committed in the 2024 class, as 6-foot-9 forward Amdy Ndiaye verbally committed to the Panthers last week. Ndiaye committed to Pitt shortly after visiting.

“Pitt was a great experience,” Ndiaye told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “When you hear Pittsburgh, you going to think it’s in the middle of nowhere or something, but it’s great honestly. The vibe, the environment, I like it out there. It was a great experience, honestly.”

Pitt basketball is continuing to hit the recruiting trail prior to the start of the 2023-24 season, as they made an offer to Class of 2025 power forward Colt Langdon on Friday,

Langdon stands at 6-foot-10, 210 pounds and plays for Millbrook Magnet High School in Raleigh, N.C. 247sports and On3 both rank him as a three-star. 247Sports has him as the No. 7 player in North Carolina, No. 26 power forward and the No. 130 player in the country in the Class of 2025, respectively and On3 ranks him as the No. 6 player in the state, No. 28 small forward and No. 110 player in his Class. Rivals rates him as a four-star recruit.

He holds offers from ACC schools in Notre Dame and Virginia Tech, A-10 schools in George Mason, Richmond and VCU, Big East schools in Butler and Georgetown, Big Ten schools in Illinois and Iowa, SEC schools in LSU, Mississippi State and Ole Miss, Big South schools in High Point and Radford, along with Appalachian State, East Carolina, Furman, NJIT, Ohio and West Virginia.

Langdon averaged 20.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.0 blocks and 0.9 steals per game, while also shooting 42% from 3-point range and 50% from the floor as a sophomore last season for Millbrook.

He also played for Team Logan on the Adidas 3SSB circuit this past summer, where he averaged 15.5 points per game and 46% from 3-point range.

Langdon is an exceptional wing player, who can move well all around the court, including at small forward and power forward. He is a great shooter from behind the arc and also can make a basket with defenders putting heavy pressure on him. He finishes well at the rim and defends the his own basket with fervor, blocking his opponents and getting up to grab rebounds over them as well.

Pitt basketball has recently hosted players in the two upcoming recruiting classes, with Class of 2025 guard Akbar Waheed III visiting in late September and Class of 2024 forward Amdy Ndiaye in October.

Over the weekend, Pitt hosted class-of-2024 prospect Amdy Ndiaye for an official visit.

Ndiaye, a 6-foot-10 forward out of Putnam Science Academy (CT), took in the Panthers’ open practice, toured the facilities, and had a chance to bond with the Pitt hoops team and coaching staff all weekend.

During Pitt’s practice, Ndiaye sat court side right next to the bench along with injured Pitt big man Papa Amadou Kante.

“Pittsburgh is a great team,” he said. “Last year, they had a great season. I was watching practice, and it was different. The environment, the energy. The players were happy to be there. They were excited to practice and play for Coach Capel. That’s something that I’m very excited about.”

Amdy Ndiaye

Amdy Ndiaye on his Pitt visit

Following the practice, Ndiaye stayed on the court with Pitt associate head coach Amdy Ndiaye and learned from the Panthers assistant.

“Coach O’Toole, he’s a great coach,” he said. “Everybody knows Coach O’Toole and how energetic he is and everything. He’s just got a plan for me. He’s got a plan for me, and he’s somebody that I can really trust. He believes in my game. And the staff. Coach Capel, he’s a great coach. Everybody knows Coach Capel around college basketball, he played with Duke and everything. The whole Pittsburgh coaching staff is amazing, honestly.”

As for Ndiaye’s game, he last played for Long Island Lutheran and will now play for basketball powerhouse Putnam Science Academy this year. When breaking down his talents for PSN, he used one word to summarize his skill set: versatile.

“I am the player on the team who is able to almost do everything, like, making shots, switching on guards, be able to guard one through five, be able to score in any position from the three-point line to the paint,” he added. ” I do the little stuff: get rebounds, go for the shot block. The player who will be doing everything. That’s how I define my game.”

Ndiaye is currently unranked on 247 Sports and Rivals, but he holds an offer from Pitt, College of Charleston, and Eastern Michigan. Ndiaye has visited Rutgers and Saint Bonaventure so far, and has plans to take an official to College of Charleston soon. He also told PSN that he may schedule another visit to either Wake Forest or Providence.

“I was thinking, right now it’s just complicated because I’m thinking of where I want to go. I want to do that before the season starts. I’m thinking by the end of next month [November].”

On Tuesday night, Pitt extended an offer to a forward in the 2024 class out of Senegal.

Amdy Ndiaye, a 6-foot-10, 210-pound forward, plays for Putnam Science Academy in Putnam, Connecticut. Last year, he played for NIBC powerhouse Long Island Lutheran, shooting over 35% from three-point range, per his coach. Ndiaye picked up the offer from the Panthers’ staff late Tuesday, marking his first high-major offer.

In addition to Pitt, he holds an offer from Eastern Michigan, and has taken visits to Rutgers (unofficial) and St. Bonaventure (official).

Pitt has now offered three uncommitted forwards in 2024 by PSN’s count: Ndiaye, Raleigh Burgess (OH), and James Moore (NJ). The Panthers currently have one verbal commitment in the class of 2024 with Brandin Cummings locked in to Pitt.

Jeff Capel and his program will be hosting a talented junior this weekend.

College basketball recruiting analyst Houston Wilson is reporting that 2025 4-star shooting guard Derek Dixon will be making an unofficial visit to Pitt on Saturday. Dixon (6’4″, 185-pounds) attends Gonzaga High School in Washington D.C. and is currently ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 90 overall player in the Class of 2025.

Along with Pitt, Dixon holds offers from Xavier, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Villanova, Syracuse, St. Joe’s, Providence, Penn State, Maryland, Kansas State, George Washington, George Mason, Fordham and East Carolina.

This won’t be Dixon’s first visit to Pitt, as back in June of 2022, he also made an unofficial visit to Pittsburgh. In fact, that visit was Dixon’s first college visit. Back on June 15, the day schools were permitted to make contact with juniors, Jeff Capel and Milan Brown were in contact with Dixon.

Pitt has offered ten guards in the class of 2025, headlined by Dixon and local product Meleek Thomas, who is one of the top five players in the country. The Panthers have one high-school commitment currently, with 2024 prospect Brandin Cummings verbally committed to join the program that his brother starred for a season ago.

Brandin Cummings has already spent considerable time in the Pitt basketball facilities, looking up to his older brother Nelly who led the Panthers to an NCAA Tournament win last year.

The younger Cummings brother had a pass for every game as a junior and was in attendance for most, if not all, of Pitt’s home games to watch his brother play. Then, in January, Cummings decided to follow in his brother’s footsteps and commit to the Panthers.

Brandin Cummings on Commitment to Pitt: ‘It’s Clear that Pitt Basketball is Back’

Cummings, a 6-foot-3 guard, is ranked as a top-130 player in the nation by 247 Sports and is trying to lead Lincoln Park to a back-to-back State Championship this season alongside five star Meleek Thomas. Ahead of the duo’s next run, Cummings took another trip to Pitt to check out the facilities, catch up with the Pitt staff, and take some new pictures in the Panther uniform. Check out the photos below.
