After being speculated about, it’s now official. Pitt defensive and former Steel Valley star Todd Hill is in the NCAA Transfer Portal.

After performing well at Duquesne, Hill made the decision in the offseason to join Pitt, however that move didn’t work out.

He arrived at Pitt as a tweener, with no real fit at either linebacker or defensive end, and a lot of depth at defensive end held him off the field through the first nine games of the season. Unfortunately for Hill, there were too many players on the roster for him to get an opportunity.

With guys like Dayon Hayes, Nate Temple, Bam Brima, Samuel Okunlola, Jimmy Scott and Nahki Johnson ahead of him, Hill couldn’t get on the field.

The 5-foot-10, 240-pound Hill, who played his high school ball at Steel Valley in Munhall, Pa., will have one season of eligibility remaining due to COVID-19.

The struggles of the 2023 Pitt Panther football team have been well documented, and those struggles are likely to continue throughout the rest of the season.

The question on the minds of Pitt fans is whether or not these struggles will parlay into their recruiting, in particular their Class of 2024.

Because of what’s gone on this season, the talent that Pitt is scheduled to bring in next season, which is pretty strong, has been somewhat forgotten. Currently, Pitt’s current class of 21 commitments is ranked No. 31 by Rivals.com and includes five 4-star recruits.

Pittsburgh Sports Now has reached out to these players to get a pulse on what they’re thinking about Pitt and if anything has or could be changing? The good news is that everyone appears to be still locked in with the Panthers.

PSN will add more comments to this story as we receive them.

Davin Brewton, 2024 3-star LB (Red Bank, New Jersey)

“It’s been a tough season for Pitt this year but that’s football, you’re going to have your ups and downs. I know Coach Narduzzi and the staff are goin make changes to make it better, I have a lot of faith in them. I am not going anywhere I’m staying right where I am because Pitt is a great program and our 24 class is going to make a great impact on the team and I’m excited.”

Jahsear Whittington, 2024 4-star DT (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania)

“The season doesn’t change my perspective on the football program at all. They are in a rebuilding stage. A lot of young guys have to step up and play at a high level. I still have very much trust in the coaching staff that they know what they’re doing. This is the same coaching staff that recently won an ACC Championship, it’s just a matter of time before everything comes together. I talk to Coach Partridge every week, he’ll let me know how the dline did and just say they are preparing for the next week.”

Francis Brewu, 2024 3-star DL (Worthington, Ohio)

“Winning a lot of games is cool but that’s not why I picked Pitt. I picked them for so much more. When it comes to personal development at my position, it just doesn’t get better than what Coach P is doing over there and the main goal is getting to the NFL, so yes, they are struggling a bit right now but it’s something I know that will get turned around, so I’m not worried about it at all. I got a lot of faith in the staff and in the 24 class as well so I believe we will be fine and get back to being a top ranked team in the nation! I still talk to the coaches’ multiple times a week and always enjoy getting to chat with them and the message is the same, the message I get is that they will turn this around for the better and I know it will.”

Jeremiah Marcelin, 2024 3-star LB (Miami, Florida)

“I love Pitt, I mean everyone sees what is going on with the season and they just have to clean up some things in house to start getting back on track. I still communicate with the staff regularly and they know what they need to do to improve now it just has to be put in place. They got a big one again this week at home and they’re looking to put on a better performance and bring home the W.”

Mason Lindsay, 2024 3-star OL (Hyattsville, Maryland)

“Pitt’s rough patches this season are just due to some new faces, the new quarterback changes we’ve had and injuries on the offensive line as well. I believe Pitt’s program and coaching staff are and still is amazing. This same staff won the ACC back in 2021 but every team goes through a rough season every now and then, but this doesn’t impact my thoughts or opinions on leaving Pitt or flipping my commitment. I still speak to the coaches every week, I just finished speaking to Narduzzi today actually.”

Allen Bryant, 2024 3-star DB (Fort Lauderdale, Florida)

“No, this season doesn’t have any impact on me from a communication standpoint neither does it from a commit standpoint. Obviously, you see the team you are going to play for losing and you kind of feel some way about it. Well, I know I do cause I’m a competitor and I don’t like to lose but I also realize that programs have up and down years. It just comes with the territory, but I know that when I get to campus, I’m gonna make sure I do my part to make sure this don’t happen again.”

Moritz Schmoranzer, 2024 3-star OL (Roanoke, Virginia)

“I am still fully committed to the program and university, and I’m pretty sure the rest of the ‘24 class is as well. Pitt has had better years, that is for sure, but every team has its ups and downs and I think that’s motivates my class even more, to help the team get out of that low and rise again. This season is just more of a motivation for me personally, gotta get to work and get better. When I talk to the staff and players, they don’t really question me if I’m still committed because they know I am. When I talk to Coach Narduzzi or coach Borbs, it is very personal and that’s what Pitt values and I like that. Me and the coaches and staff in general have a very good relationship, because for me there is more than one option to get on the field, Coach Narduzzi told me that he also likes my D-Line film a lot, he already talked to Coach Partridge and he is enthusiastic about it, and also on special teams like punt and field goal teams.

Juelz Goff, 2024 3-star RB (York, Pennsylvania)

“I just feel like there’s some adversity that’s being faced and that’s going to happen. It’s a part of the game. Not everything will go as planned, or as you expect it to. However, it’s not shying me away or changing anything for me. I’m still locked in.”

Cameron Lindsey, 2024 4-star LB (Aliquippa HS)

“It’s been a rough season for Pitt so far. The way I feel about the program hasn’t changed. I still feel good about my decision on being a Pitt Panther. I’ve been keeping contact with some of the staff throughout the weeks, so I still have a great relationship with Coach Manalac, Coach Narduzzi, and the rest of the staff. It’s still some time to change their season around, they just have to get it going and find their spark.”

Cameron Monteiro, 2024 3-star WR (Brockton, Massachusetts)
“How I look at it is it’s just a down year. They finished in the top 25 two consecutive years. They had some quarterback issues at the beginning of the year that set them behind. I’m in contact with them weekly. There always checking up on me. Their staff is filled with could people that believe in me and I believe they can do the best for me.”

Former Pitt target in Class of 2024 four-star quarterback Trever Jackson announced that he’s no longer committed to Ole Miss on Sunday.

“After a discussion with my parents and coaches, I have made the difficult decision to decommit from the University of Mississippi,” Jackson wrote in a statement to Twitter. “While I am grateful to coach Lane and the entire staff for this opportunity I have determined it is best for my future to reopen my recruitment at this time.” “GODSPEED”

Jackson originally had Pitt in his top five schools, which also included Tulane, Indiana, FAU and Appalachian State. He also made an official visit to Pitt in late May, which indicated to many fans that he would make Pitt his home in the future.

Rod Rutherford, who attended Perry Traditional Academy in Pittsburgh before going on to star at Pitt as a two-time All-Big East quarterback, is Jackson’s quarterback coach down in Florida, which played a role in his relationship with Pitt.

That final five schools changed once he received more interest from bigger schools and improved from a three-star rating to a four-star, thanks in large part to his performance at Rivals Camp Miami back in May.

Trever Jackson soon announced his commitment to Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin at the end of August. Before deciding on Ole Miss, Jackson had Oklahoma, UCLA and Texas A&M as his other finalists.

As a junior at West Orange, leading his squad to a district title (in 10 games), he completed 96-of-162 pass attempts (59%) for 1,559 yards with 16 touchdowns and seven interceptions and added 306 yards (5.9 per) and six touchdowns on 52 carries.

He transferred to Jones High School in Orlando, Fla., but hasn’t seen his passing production improve from last season. He has completed  32-of-62 passes for 583 yards and six touchdowns, but has improved his rushing output, with 378 yards on the ground and six touchdowns in 2023.

247Sports ranks Trever Jackson as the No. 16 quarterback, No. 38 recruit in Florida and No. 257 in the Class of 2024, respectively.

Julian Dugger accounted for four touchdowns against Woodland Hills High, and the Indians needed each one to clinch the WPIAL Class-5A Northeast crown.

Dugger — a 6-foot-4, 205-pound three-star quarterback commit — threw for 92 yards and two touchdowns, ran for 140 yards and two more scores and even lined up out wide as a receiver as Penn Hills knocked off Woody Hills 26-21 Friday night.

It was the continuation of a very strong senior season for Dugger, who continues to flash as an athletic quarterback.

Dugger, who has been committed to Pitt since the summer, has been back to check out games multiple times this season, and he’s continuing to feel more and more at home with the Panthers.

“It’s home,” Dugger told PSN after a game in September. “All of the coaches love me; they text me every day. It just feels like a family relationship, everything is here [for me.] The relationship is good, it is great.”

Dugger has completed 82-of-164 pass attempts (50%) for 1,320 yards with 14 touchdowns and three interceptions, and he’s added 500 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground this season — all up from a good junior season.

Dugger is a tall, athletic quarterback at 6-foot-4, 205 pounds, a multi-sport athlete who also stars on the basketball court and competes in track & field, and he’s taken strides as a quarterback — not just an athlete — over the last few months.

He started working with former WPIAL star and NFL quarterback Mike McMahon earlier this year, and it’s shown with his on-field results. Dugger was impressive at a Pitt camp in June, was one of the top performers at the 2Tenths Top 150 camp in July and eventually pledged himself to Pitt at the very end of July.

“I think I impressed people with my footwork and the fact that we were winning and didn’t get stopped the entire camp,” Dugger told PSN in June. “During the camp, I had a very high completion percentage. I was doing a good job of throwing the ball on time and throwing to where my receivers were supposed to be and not waiting for them to get to a spot. I was throwing with anticipation.

“I went to this camp with the goal of showcasing to all the coaches there my talent and showing everyone how I really can throw the ball. I also went there with the goal of winning, which I knew would bring me attention.”

Dugger has done what he’s set out to accomplish during his senior season since the excellent camp circuit over the summer, and now he’ll look to lead the Indians to a WPIAL title.

The Pitt Panthers will head to South Bend, Ind. as nearly three-touchdown underdogs as they take on No. 14 ranked Notre Dame.

Notre Dame is one of the most storied football programs in the country, having won 11 National Championships, the last of which came in 1988.

Despite not winning a national title in 35 years, Notre Dame’s brand is such that they can offer any prospect in the country and land him. The combination of playing for and receiving a degree from Notre Dame is something that very few, if any other program can match.

Although it’s not what is once was, the WPIAL still churns out Power Five talent on a yearly basis, but surprisingly, the Fighting Irish haven’t much landed many players from Western Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh Central Catholic defensive tackle Donovan Hinish (Class of 2022) was the player local player to sign with Notre Dame, and it’s been four recruiting classes since a four-star WPIAL player committed there.

Since the Class of 2015, here’s a look at the players from the WPIAL that Notre Dame signed. In case you were wondering, during that time frame, three players with Notre Dame offers, signed with Pitt, four-stars in safeties in Damar Hamlin and Paris Ford and defensive tackle Elliot Donald.

CLASS OF 2016
Damar Hamlin, four-star Safety, Pittsburgh Central Catholic (Pitt)

CLASS OF 2017
Josh Lugg, four-star offensive tackle, North Allegheny
Kurt Hinish, three-star defensive tackle, Pittsburgh Central Catholic
David Adams, four-star linebacker, Pittsburgh Central Catholic
Paris Ford, four-star safety, Steel Valley (Pitt)

CLASS OF 2018
Phil Jurkovec, four-star quarterback, Pine-Richland

CLASS OF 2019
Andrew Kristofic, four-star offensive tackle, Pine-Richland

CLASS OF 2020
Michael Carmody, four-star offensive tackle, Mars

CLASS OF 2021
Elliot Donald, four-star defensive tackle, Pittsburgh Central Catholic (Pitt)

CLASS OF 2022
Donovan Hinish, three-star defensive tackle, Pittsburgh Central Catholic

Looking at the WPIAL Class of 2023, Belle Vernon four-star athlete Quinton Martin (Penn State), Pittsburgh Central Catholic linebackers in three-star Cole Sullivan (Michigan) and four-star Anthony Speca (Penn State) all had offers from Notre Dame before committing elsewhere.

The WPIAL and City League is loaded with talent in the Classes of 2025 thru 2027 and it’ll be interesting to see if Notre Dame can start regaining a recruiting footprint in the Pittsburgh area.

The firing of Mel Tucker opened a 30-day window for Michigan State players to enter the transfer portal without penalty, and a handful of Spartans have already taken advantage of the opening.

Keyshawn Blackstock, a 6-foot-5, 315-pound interior offensive lineman, is one of those to enter the portal, doing so Tuesday afternoon, and he’s had no shortage of interest in his short time in the portal.

Pitt joined the likes of North Carolina State, Texas Tech, Houston and Cal to reach out and extend an offer just hours after Blackstock officially hit the portal. Pat Narduzzi, Dave Borbely and Graham Wilbert appear to be leading the charge for Pitt.

Blackstock didn’t spend long at Michigan State after committing to the Spartan in December, playing just four games in a depth role this season, but he was one of the most highly sought-after JUCO recruits in the class of 2023.

247Sports and Rivals both rated Blackstock as the top-ranked JUCO interior offensive lineman in the class (top ten overall) out of Coffeyville C.C. in Covington, Ga., and he received offers from nearly 50 schools before deciding on the Spartans.

He sent a top five of Michigan State, Oregon, Tennessee, USC and Oklahoma the last time around.

He played 74 offensive snaps for Michigan State this season, all 74 at left tackle, and he played well in limited action. According to PFF, he allowed just two pressures and two hurries (both against Central Michigan) this season.

It appears likely that Blackstock will be in high demand once again as he goes through the transfer portal process — able to talk to coaches and transfer to a new school at any time. He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Pitt will lose at least Blake Zubovic and Jake Kradel following the season, with their collegiate eligibility expiring, and it remains to be seen what Matt Goncalves and Ryan Jacoby will decide to do.

Branson Taylor will be back, and Ryan Baer, Terrence Moore and BJ Williams have worked their way into the starting lineup for the first time this season. Jason Collier Jr., Dorien Ford, Terrence Enos Jr. and Jackson Brown also figure to feature into the equation.

But it seems likely that Pitt will do its due diligence looking into transfer offensive linemen in the portal through the offseason.

Pitt has continued to look throughout the WPIAL for new recruits, making Latrobe linebacker Alex Tatsch the sixth player in the Class of 2025 in Western Pa. they offered on Monday.

Tatsch received a call from Panthers linebackers coach Ryan Manalac on Monday who told him that he’d like to be his future position coach. Standing at 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, Tatsch has already received offers from Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Liberty, Virginia Tech, Boston College, West Virginia, Marshall and UConn.

“Getting an offer from Pitt is pretty cool,” Tatsch told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “I’ve always watched Pitt growing up and it’s obviously pretty close to home. I’ll admit, it was pretty exciting when they called me. Coach [Manalac] messaged me that he had some news and wanted to call me. During our call, they said that they want me to come back up soon and I’m looking forward to it for sure.”

Tatsch has excelled as a junior this season, making 65 tackles, 27 solo, 4.0 sacks and three interceptions. He has also conrtibuted on offense, rushing 32 times for 263 yards and four touchdowns, while also making six catches for 94 yards and a touchdown. His great play has led Latrobe to a 6-2 overall record and 4-1 in the Class 4A Big Seven Conference in 2023.

“We’ve been talking a bit off and on, I haven’t been talking to them too much during the season until now,” Tatsch said. “I think they were waiting to see some things in my game before offering. They must have saw them and decided to pull the trigger.”

In terms of his style of play, Tatsch is the prototypical linebacker, who excels at reading the play and stuffing the run. One linebacker that Tatsch watches in order to improve his game is San Francisco’s Fred Warner, who made the Pro Bowl and earned NFL First-Team honors in 2022.

“I think I read the opposing offenses well,” Tatsch said. “I came down hard. A lot of the colleges that are recruiting me, say they like the length that I have and say that they see a frame that they can build on. I believe that I can cover well, too.”

Being that he’s only a junior and that a majority of these offers have come in recently, Tatsch said that he’s still taking the recruiting process in and is going to be patient before making any sort of college decision.

“I’m still not certain about what school I might choose and decide to go to,” Tatsch said. “After the season is over, I’m going to really start to try and figure things out. Hopefully by next summer, I’ll have some idea of where I’ll end up.”

Alex Tatsch visited Wisconsin this past weekend, where they offered him, Penn State for their “White Out” game on Sept. 24 and then West Virginia on Sept. 17 for their victory over Pitt in the Backyard Brawl. He also visited West Virginia prior to their Spring Game back in April.

Tatsch said he has plans to visit West Virginia and Penn State before the end of 2023.

2025 WPIAL PLAYERS WITH OFFERS FROM PITT

Tiqwai Hayes: Aliquippa 4-star running back.  (Verbally committed to Penn State).

Brady O’Hara: North Catholic 4-star tight end (Verbally committed to Penn State).

Dayshaun Burnett: Imani Christian 4-star linebacker.

Antwan Black, Jr.: Laurel Highland 3-star defensive back.

To say that the life and future of Fort Cherry standout Matt Sieg has changed is a massive understatement.

Two months ago, Sieg was just as a star sophomore on a talented Fort Cherry team, now he’s an elite recruit that is stacking up Power Five offers. Sieg, who stands at 6-foot and 170 pounds, has received offers from Pitt, Penn State, West Virginia, Nebraska and Syracuse in the month of October. Considering that he’s only a sophomore, more schools will come in to offer him for his services in the future

Matt Sieg isn’t just a star player that college programs have taken notice in, as he’s been one of the most electrifying players in the WPIAL in 2023. He has completed 36 of 55 passes for 724 yards and 11 touchdowns to just one interception, while rushing 51 times for 751 yards and eight touchdowns.

Being a prized recruit also means that when Matt Sieg makes game day visits, it’s newsworthy. That was the case this past weekend as Sieg made an unofficial visit to Acrisure Stadium for Pitt’s upset win against then ranked No. 14 Louisville last Saturday.

Pittsburgh Sports Now spoke to Sieg on Monday about his newfound stardom and whether things feel different for him. He also spoke about his impressions of what he saw from the hometown program.

“Honestly, I really haven’t felt or looked at myself any differently,” Sieg said. “Everything that’s happening to me is really great stuff, but I still have a lot to achieve, and I can’t let all of this change my perspective on anything. Yes, I’m ready for all of the attention that I will be getting but it really isn’t going to change anything for me. I think it’s cool to be getting this attention but I’m not going to let it change how I work and how I approach things.”

“I thought my visit to Pitt was really good. When I got a tour of the facility on South Side, I could tell how tough knit Pitt is as a coaching staff and I really liked that. My tour guide was talking to me about the game and about Pitt and it all matched up with what I saw. I was really cool how I could tell everyone at Pitt is working together and they really seem like a big family.”

This wasn’t Sieg’s first tour of the Pitt facilities, but he noticed some upgrades from the last time he visited, and one thing really stood out to him.

“The whole facility is really nice, state of the art stuff,” said Sieg. “What really stood out to me was Pitt’s nutrition plan for their athletes. They share the same meal prep and eating area with the Steelers. That’s really impressive.”

After touring the Pitt facility, Sieg along with the rest of the recruits went to Acrisure Stadium for the game. Aside from watching Pitt, he tells PSN that he had the opportunity to talk with a few other big name local recruits.

“I stood on the sidelines and talked a lot with Da’Ron Barsksdale (Steel Valley Class of 2026 athlete with Pitt offer), David Davis (Imani Christian Class of 2026 defensive back with Pitt offer) and Larry Moon (Pittsburgh Central Catholic Class of 2027 cornerback with Pitt offer). We talked a lot about our seasons and a lot about Pitt. I also had a chance pregame to talk with [safeties] Coach [Cory] Sanders and go in the locker room. It was a great time.”

Making these college visits are nice but that’s not the priority right now for Sieg. The No. 1 thing on his mind is making a return trip to Acrisure Stadium in November with his Fort Cherry team to play for a WPIAL Championship.

“Our team is really coming together and making improvements every single week,” said Sieg. “It’s really showing as we’re 8-0 right now, with two more games. We’re taking it week by week and our main goal is to win the WPIAL Championship. That’s my focus.”

Junior quarterback Matt Zollers is one of many high school players who made a game day visit to Acrisure Stadium to watch Pitt take on No. 14 Louisville.

However, Zollers found himself in a different situation than many of the other recruits in attendance.  Zollers is a Class of 2025 recruit and has already received an offer from Pitt. A great majority of the other recruits that visited Pitt last weekend with offers were underclassmen.

The obvious importance of that is a junior is starting to seriously think about where they might want to attend and possibly commit. Coaching staffs realize that, and no doubt give those players a bit more attention, especially if they’re high on their recruiting board.

Matt Zollers stands at 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds and plays quarterback from Spring-Ford High School in Royersford, Pa. He has one Power Five offer, and it came from Pitt offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti and head coach Pat Narduzzi back on September 22.

Pittsburgh Sports Now spoke Monday with Zollers about his weekend in Pittsburgh and got his impressions of what he saw and the Pitt program in general.

“This weekend left me with great impressions,” Zollers said. “The offense was playing well, obviously with the new quarterback change. The defense played outstanding, obviously had that long pick six. They played well as a team and that was really nice to see.”

This wasn’t Zollers first time visiting Pitt this season, but he told PSN that Saturday it felt a lot different than his previous visit in September.

“I went when Pitt played Cincinnati and didn’t have an offer yet. Back then, I was going to see what the atmosphere was like, and it was amazing. This time going with the offer, honestly, I felt it was better because all the coaches knew who I am now. All the connections that I have there, it’s pretty nice.”

“Coach Narduzzi took time out before the game and I went down to the locker room before the game to talk with him,” Zollers said. “I talked with Coach Cignetti after the game in the locker room. It was really nice that they both took the time out to talk to me. They both told me how excited they were that I took the time to come back up and how excited they are to continue to stay in contact with me and keeping the recruiting process going. I really like a lot about Pitt. The coaches are really easy to talk to, the campus is really nice and also my brother (Zach Zollers/freshman walk-on DL) goes there too. That’s obviously a plus.”

Matt Zollers is a quarterback that can beat you in the air and on the ground. He has completed 131 of his 199 passes, 65.8% completion, for 26 touchdowns and zero interceptions, while rushing 40 times for 326 yards and six touchdowns.

“I’d like to consider myself as a dual-threat quarterback and consider myself pretty fast,” Zollers said on his game. “When I get pressured in the pocket, I don’t panic and stand tall. If needed to, I can run. This season, our team has installed a lot of designed quarterback runs. I believe that I have a strong arm. In terms of my accuracy, it’s good now but it’s something that can definitely be better and I’m working on that.”

This weekend ended with a victory for Pitt football, as they took their first step to turning around this 2023 season after their worst start since 2005.

The most important thing that took place was Pitt breaking that four-game losing streak and doing so against No. 14 Louisville Saturday night at Acrisure Stadium. The win is the highest ranked win for the program since No. 2 Miami on Nov. 24, 2017.

The second thing is that the Panthers won that game in front of number of important, talented recruits at home. A large majority of the players making visits for the game underclassmen, getting their first experience of Pitt football.

While the weather wasn’t ideal for a visit, the players in attendance didn’t seem to mind and left the game with a positive impression of Pitt football.

Juelz Goff is in the midst of a dominant senior season, leading the Central York Panthers to an 8-0 record with two regular season games left on the schedule, and he etched his name in the Central York history books Friday night.

In the midst of a 35-27 win over Red Lion High Friday night, a 37-yard rushing touchdown broke a 48-year-old career rushing record and retook the Panthers’ lead. With well over 200 yards on the ground Friday night (the official number is unconfirmed), Goff is now the all-time leading rusher in Central York history.

Goff scored four touchdowns in the win, pulling the Panthers to victory with touchdowns of 1, 2, 34 and 37 yards.

Goff put together a stellar junior season at Central York, running for 1,611 yards (8.3 yards per carry) and 31 touchdowns and adding 335 yards (14 yards per reception) through the air, but he set an offseason goal to achieve greater consistency on and off the field.

And as he’s crossed the 1,000-yard mark for an unbeaten Central York squad through eight games, he’s reached even more soaring heights for the Panthers this season.

At 5-foot-10, 190 pounds, with the ability to cut on a dime and reach that second gear when he hit the second level of the defense, Goff looks like a future star. He grew up in Central Pennsylvania, watching LeSean McCoy every Sunday, and his play Friday didn’t look out of place on a McCoy highlight tape.

“(LeSean McCoy was) definitely one of my favorite backs growing up,” Goff told PSN when he committed. “Like, the shifty ability, the side-to-side quickness, the lateral movement, it’s just stuff you look up to growing up.”

Goff committed to Pitt after his Junior Day visit in January, locking in very early in his recruiting process, and he made his official visit to Pittsburgh over the week of June 8. And it was just another chance to lock in with the coaching staff and further his bond with the program.

“Obviously, I’m committed to Pitt, so my main focus was to comfort some of the other guys and inform them about what I’ve experienced,” Goff said after his official visit in June. “Also, just talk to them about some of the coaches that they haven’t met yet or might be new to.

“So, yeah, this was a very comfortable weekend for me. I was also getting myself comfortable with the Pitt system and understanding some of the Pitt coaches since I had the chance to be around them for consecutive days. I thought that was a very good experience for me.”

Goff wasn’t the most highly recruited prospect coming out of Central York, but it’s clear that Pitt has a gem in its record-breaking running back commit. And he’s not alone in arriving at Pitt next season either.

Goff forms a very, very strong duo with four-star running back Yasin Willis, with both currently committed to Pitt, and it bodes very well for the future of Pitt’s running backs room.

More recruits continue to announce that they’ll be attending the Pitt/Louisville game on Saturday night.

Previously, Pittsburgh Sports Now has been telling you about young uncommitted WPIAL players that are making gameday visits but now we have something different.

Pitt 2024 3-star defensive tackle Francis Brewu,  from Thomas Worthington High in Worthington, Ohio, says he’ll be making a return visit to Pitt this weekend.

This is good and important news for Pitt because despite his longstanding commitment to Pitt, Power Five teams continue to pursue Brewu.

Since committing to Pitt in March, Brewu has picked up offers from Wisconsin, Michigan State and Miami, Florida. Prior to Mel Tucker’s firing, the 6-foot-2, 270-pound defensive tackle made a gameday visit to Michigan State in September.

When contacted by PSN, Brewu has always maintained his commitment to Pitt but with the continual interest he’s receiving, it’s a good thing for Pitt to get him back in town and around the program.

Brewu is part of a large and talented defensive line group in the class of 2024 that includes four-star defensive tackles Jahsear Whittington and Sincere Edwards, three-star defensive ends Zachary Crothers and Ty Yuhas.

Pitt won’t just be hosting No. 14 Louisville but a number of recruits from the class of 2024, 2025, 2026 and even 2027.

One of those freshmen standouts is Larry Moon — a 5-foot-11, 170-pound cornerback from Pittsburgh Central Catholic in Pittsburgh. While he’s just a freshman, he’s already received a slew of offers from the local universities.

Moon received an offer from Pitt back in June, even before his freshman season began, following a stellar performance at a Rising Stars camp. And it was Pat Narduzzi himself who extended an offer.

“Today meant a lot to me,” Moon told Pittsburgh Sports Now in June. “The dream has always been to be hometown so getting the offer from the hometown school is a blessing. I went out there today with the purpose of competing and trying my hardest. I didn’t go to Pitt this weekend thinking about earning an offer, I just went there with the mindset of competing and showing the coaches my skill level and what I can do.

“I led the warmups, and I led every defensive back drill. I believe that I did it with 100% effort, which I believe made me look good. I think that I proved to them that I can cover. I showed them that I’m fast, I’m physical and that I have the grades.”

Moon currently holds offers from Maryland, Penn State, Pitt and West Virginia, and that list is sure to grow as he continues to make an impact on the football field.

As a freshman playing varsity on a very, very talented Central Catholic squad, he’s recorded 15 tackles (nine solo), playing a key role on the backend.
