Pitt Continues to Pursue 2021 Central Valley Safety Stephon Hall

The Pitt defense will have two of the more talented pair of safeties in the country next season with Damar Hamlin and Paris Ford.

Following the 2020 season, Pat Narduzzi and Archie Collins will be searching for two players to replace that dynamic duo.

Pitt has already received a commitment from a talented junior safety in Javon McIntyre but are looking to add more to replenish the depth chart.

Class of 2021 three-star safety Donovan McMillon from Peters Township is a major priority along with another WPIAL star.

Back in December, Pat Narduzzi personally extended an offer to Central Valley 2021 safety Stephon Hall, which was a huge moment for him because it was his first Division I offer.

Other schools are starting to follow Pitt’s lead as Hall has received offers this week from Central Michigan, Toledo and Kent State. He’s also received a number of in-school this week from other programs like Akron, Maryland, Bowling Green, Villanova and Buffalo.

Hall is excited about all the attention he’s receiving, but doesn’t forget that Pitt offered first and continues to recruit him hard. Members of their staff has made it a priority to stop out to Central Valley to see him, the latest visit being yesterday from safeties coach Cory Sanders.

Pittsburgh Sports Now spoke with Hall Wednesday night and talked to him about initially getting that Pitt offer, which was obviously a huge day for him.

”When I first heard about it, it was the day before our state championship game,” said Hall. “We were having a team meeting and our coaches told the whole team. When I found out, I was honestly shocked because I didn’t think I’d be getting an offer from them at that time. I was like dang, I just got an offer from Pitt.”

The two sides have been in consistent contact since then and Pitt is telling Hall (t6-foot-2, 170 pounds) that he reminds them of a current and former member of the Panthers secondary.

“They like my size and the way I go after the ball,” Hall said. “They say I play like Paris Ford and I could be the next Jordan Whitehead, who also went to CV.”

Hall’s most recent visit to Pitt was on Junior Day, a couple weeks ago.

Hall is one of the many elite juniors from the WPIAL (Nahki Johnson, McMillon, Elliot Donald, Dorien Ford) that Pitt hopes to add to its Class of 2021.

”They don’t really talk much about it (wanting a commitment soon), I think right now they’re being patient. We just have long conversations and they make sure I know how I’d fit into their defense,” said Hall.

In terms of a timeframe to announce his college decision, Hall says that he’s “waiting it out” and is enjoying the recruiting process.

”Honestly, Pitt would be a great option because it’s a great school and it’s local but right now I’m just seeing what’s out there and trying to be patient.”
