Central Valley’s Stephon Hall Decides ‘Now Was the Right Time’ to Commit to Pitt

Despite Pitt being the first program to offer him, Stephon Hall wanted to take his time and didn’t want to rush his college decision.

After giving it five months of consideration and letting other programs get involved, Hall went with the school that he was leaning towards the entire time and committed to Pat Narduzzi and Pitt. Hall became Pitt’s 15th commitment and joins Nahki Johnson as the second WPIAL player in Pitt’s Class of 2021 with his announcement on Friday.

Following his phone call to Narduzzi to make things official, Hall talked with Pittsburgh Sports Now about his reasons for staying home.

“The thing was that, Pitt has always been my go-to school and school I was leaning towards,” Hall told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “Because of that, I’ve just been thinking and figured that now was the right time to announce my decision. I was always thinking about going to Pitt and it was nice to be able to stay local so I called them and gave them my decision.

“I called Coach Narduzzi and told him that after looking into it and thinking about things, I wanted to make my decision now and didn’t want to be late and that I wanted to commit to Pitt.”

Hall admits that he was allowing other schools that offered him a chance to get involved but with no visits permitted for the near future, he didn’t want to risk losing his opportunity with Pitt.

“Although Pitt was always in the back of my mind, I wanted to explore all of my options,” said Hall. “After time though, I saw that Pitt was showing me the most interest. Plus, my the time I might have been able to take other official visits, rosters were going to start filling up, so I decided to make a decision now before it might have been too late.”

Credit Pitt safeties coach Cory Sanders for being the lead recruiter of Hall, who said that Sanders and the Pitt staff have remained in constant contact with him since offering him in early December. Hall said that the Pitt coaches were keeping him updated on their scholarship situation and the fact that they’ve already received commitments from two defensive backs (safety Javon McIntyre and cornerback Noah Biglow).

Last season, Hall registered 108 tackles, 21 pass break-ups and three interceptions and now he can concentrate on winning another WPIAL championship at Central Valley before taking his talents to Pitt.

“I’m just real excited for my future and to find out what the future holds for me and seeing what I’m able to do at Pitt,” Hall said.
